UNDER-16'S
FRIENDLY - Ise 4 (White 4) Coldharbour Colts 2.
TOURNAMENT:
The Under-16's season got off to a flying start when the boys won the Deeping Rangers tournament, with new signing Shane Caswell among the goals.
Colsterworth 3-0 (Bowdler, Long, Caswell).
Peterborough Pulse 5-0 (Long, Bowdler, Caswell (2), Penney).
Eye 7-0 (Caswell, Penney (3), Gatting, Murphy (2).
S/F Netherton 3-0 (Bailey (2), Brown).
FINAL Deeping Rangers 1-0 (Brown).
FRIENDLY- Hellenic 1 Ise 1 (Murphy).
FRIENDLY - Downham Market 2 Ise 0.
LEAGUE - March Town Juniors 1 Ise Lodge 2 (Bowdler, Murphy).
We got off the mark with a well-earned three points against the champions of two seasons ago.
Early pressure saw Kyle Bailey and Andy White go close before Kyle Bowdler broke the deadlock with a crisp shot off the post.
Ross Knox in the Ise goal was rarely threatened until one of March's quick forwards was bought down and the penalty was converted.
But early in the second half Gordon Murphy's speculative long pass saw Bailey pressure the keeper and the ball somehow found its way into the net to give the champions.
A clash of heads saw Ben Penney and Jon Tite needing hospital treatment but thankfully both boys are okay.
LEAGUE - ISE LODGE 0 PETERBOROUGH PSV 2:
THE team lost only their second league game ever in a strangely subdued
team performance. After a bright opening by the home side Peterborough PSV
warmed to the task and took the game to Ise on the beautiful surface at
Raunds Town FC.
Goaless at half time, PSV went ahead straight after the restart and
despite Andrew White hitting the bar, a 30 yard screamer from Gordon
Murphy which just cleared the crossbar and a strike from Curtis Long, there
was no way back.
PSV scored a late second after a defensive error.
LEAGUE - Deeping Rangers 0 Ise Lodge 3 (White, Farahi, Long):
Ise Lodge travelled over to Market Deeping on Sunday and returned to winning
ways and also to the top of the league!
Controlling the game throughout, a first half strike from Andrew White
after a great cross from Kyle Bailey put the Kettering team one up and this
was supplemented by Julian Farahi with his first goal for the club and
Curtis Long in the second half. Kyle Willmott, Nathan Collyer, Jordan
Gatting and Ross Knox marsalled the defenced admirably throughout!
LEAGUE CUP - Ise Lodge 4 Powerleague Colts 0 (Long, White, Murphy, Bailey).
ISE Lodge U16's started their Peterbrough League Cup campaign, looking to
get 'the set' of all the local league cups after winning the Kettering and
Northampton compeitions in previous seasons, with a game against last season's losing
finalists Powerleague Colts.
Ise started strongly and showed commitment from the back to the front of the
team as they performed the best since last season's title decider game at
Crowland.
Looking defensively sound throughout, three early goals from
Curtis Long, Andy White and a classic finish from Gordon Murphy after a
lovely floated free-kick from Kyle Bowdler all but settled the tie and it
was left for Kyle Bailey to complete the score-line in the second half.
Strong performances throughout the team with Gordon Murphy and Ben Penney
excelling.
Friendly Ise 6 (Bailey 4, Farahi, Bowdler) Finedon Vics 0.
LEAGUE - Netherton 3 Ise Lodge 2 (Johnson, White).
THE boys went over to Netherton and had one of those days. Whilst it
is acknowledged that all, including management, contributed to their own
downfall on the day, it is without question that one refereeing decision
considerably affected the game. Ise raced ahead through a Ben Johnson corner
which went directly into the net thanks to a slightly misguided punch from
the goalkeeper. Then Ise wasted several chances to kill the game before the
home team caught Ise on the break twice!
Then, the referee intervenened, and having missed a blatant foul in the Ise
penalty box where two defenders were pushed he allowed the game to continue
and the ball looped towards the goal! The ball was handled on the line by a
defender thinking a free kick had been given and not only did he give a
penalty which was duly scored, he also sent the defender off!
The referee obviously felt he had made a wrong decision by allowing a goal
for ise in the 2nd half which struggled to cross the six yard line let alone
the goal line (Andy White) . He promptly then blew up for full -time with
seven minutes remaining.
LEAGUE - Ise Lodge 6 (Penney 2, Gatting, Bowdler 2, Bailey) Netherton United B 1.
ISE got back to winning ways against Netherton B. The boys tore at the visitors from the start but it seemed to take an eternity before Ben Penney netted the opener.
A few minutes later the excellent Jordan Gatting burst through to calmly side-foot past the keeper for 2-0 before Kyle Bowdler and Penney made it a 4-0 half-time score.
Bowdler scored his second - and his 100th 11-a-side goal for the club - with a sublime finish after good work by Gordon Murphy before Ise inexplicably let in a goal for 5-1.
But the ever-dependable Kyle Bailey came off the bench to hammer home for a 6-1 win. That goal signalled the 900th 11-a-side goal for the team!
LEAGUE - Powerleague 1 Ise Lodge 5 (Woods 3, Buglass, White):
THE lads shattered the last remaining 100% record of all the under 16 clubs in
the top division in Peterborough in pulsating style despite Andy White
missing a second minute penalty. Andy epitomised the team display though and
went on to notch in a pulsating man of the match performance. His
performance was closely followed by James Woods who grabbed a hat-trick on
his debut (the teams 84th!). Ise started brightly which led to the penalty
and mid way through the first half went ahead with a slick move on the left
which Woods put away first time. Then the game was fairly even for 15
minutes as Powerleague responded well to go behing and duly equalised from a
free - kick. Ise raised their game and then a two goal salvo in two minutes
- another great finish from Woods and Andy Buglass - his first since
returning from Australia made the half time team talk easier. A similar
brace after 15 minutes of the second half killed the game with Woods
completing his hat - trick and Whitey rounding it all off which means Ise
stay at the top of the league although having played a game more!
LEAGUE CUP - Ise Lodge 6 (Gatting, White, Buglass, Farahi, Murphy, Bailey) Eye United 0
DESPITE having a depleted squad and losing their goalkeeper just before half-time, Eye made it extremely difficult for the lads to break down.
With a packed defence, a bucketload of determination and unwillingness to attack, the visitors restricted Ise to Jordan Gatting's super strike by half-time.
Second-half substitutions failed to change the complexion of the match - Ise attacked, Eye resolutely defended and no goals came!
The expected opening of the floodgates finally happened half way through the second period when Andy White, Andy Buglass, Julian Farahi, Gordon Murphy and Kyle Bailey scored the goals which (on paper at least) led to a convincing win.
ISE LODGE 5 (White 2, Willmott, Woods, Penney)NORTHAMPTON JETS 0:
ISE breezed into the last 16 of the the u-16's county cup with a sublime
second half performance against Northampton Interleisure Jets with a convincing
5-0 win.
Leading at half time by a solitary goal by Andy White - his 100th
for the club - Ise pressed on in the second half as further goals from White,
Kyle Willmott, a bullet header from James Woods and a 25-yard pile driver
from Ben Penney settled the tie.
PSV 1 ISE LODGE 2 (Bowdler, Woods).
THE team went over to the very smart Thorpe Wood Sports Centre on the outskirts
of Peterborough to take on league leaders PSV looking for
revenge and to reclaim top spot after their first league encounter at Raunds
had been won by the Peterborough team.
Ise started brightly with Andy White, Kyle Bowdler and James Woods all going
close in the early minutes before a two goal salvo in three minutes mid way
through the half (one from "Bony" Bowdler from eight yards and one from
Woodsy) gave the lads a deserved 2-0 nil lead which they held until the
break against the wind. PSV gave it a real go in the second half and pulled
one back with 5 minutes to go when Ise defended too deep! The Kettering team
held firm however with solid defensive displays from Daniel Maber, Gordon
Murphy, Andy Buglass, Nathan Collyer, Kyle Willmott and man of the match Ben
Johnson to travel home knowing that they were once again on top of this very
competitive division!
Spalding 2 Ise Lodge 3 (Fenton 2, Bowdler).
The lads were on their travels again this weekend over to Spalding in a very important league game.
Ise started really brightly and were soon two goals to the good through Kyle Bowdler and Rory Fenton (his first for the club) and for the rest of the first half dominated the game without further success.
The second half was a different story however as the home team had a real go and scored twice in the space of five minutes to square things up!
Ise inevitably raised their game at this stage and scored the winner in the closing quarter through Fenton's second and also wasted numerous other chances along the way to make the game safe and bolster their goal difference!
The game was marked by skipper Ben Johnson's 200th 11-a-side game for Ise.
County Cup: Ise Lodge 2 Hellenic Fisher 2 (Ise Lodge win 4-3 on penalties):
THE tie of the third round eventually took place, at the third time of asking, at Raunds Town Football Club between two teams who have won seven league titles between them (Ise 5 - Hellenic 2) with the Kettering team looking for revenge for being knocked out in the same round of the competition two years ago on penalties!
Both teams, who were finalists in the U-12 and U-14 competitions, started a little bit nervously in the first few minutes as they were also getting used to the conditions but the hosts, against a strong wind bossed the rest of the first half with goals from Rory Fenton (a delightful chip from the edge of the box) and Gordon Murphy - after a goalmouth melee - putting Ise two up at the break. James Woods also hit the post but Daniel Maber also made a fine save from Hellenics only real chance of the half.
The second half started much the same with Andrew White forcing a good save from the Corby keeper but after that Hellenic had a real go and scored two in the last quarter of the game as they in turn were on top for most of the second half (the second three minutes from time) to take the tie into extra time.
Exra time, which was fairly even, remained scorless and with players tiring on a heavy pitch, penalties again were required.
And with successful penalties from Murphy, Kyle Willmott, and Woods and a great save from Daniel Maber it was left for man-of-the-match and skipper Ben Johnson to apply the coup de grace and secure a 4-3 penalty win. All that was left was for the winning team to celebrate in front of their own fans in a big "pile on" as indeed they did get revenge for two years earlier!
Ben Penney had a great game nullifying the ever dangerous Michael Rogers and Kyle Willmott also excelled in the heart at the back for Ise.
LEAGUE CUP: Ise Lodge 3 (Woods, Murphy (pen), Long) Rippingdale Rovers 2.
ISE, playing their second consecutive important cup tie at home were up
against opponents Rippingdale Rovers from Lincolnshire in the Peterborough
League Cup quarter finals. The away team started brightly using the
conditions well and it was no surprise when they went ahead. Just before
half time they doubled their lead. On the turn round Ise quickly pulled one
back from the ever reliable James Woods and when Gordon Murphy cooly slotted
a penalty mid way through the half there was only one winner. The clinching
goal however didn't come until 5 minutes from end when Curtis Long finished
well from 20 yards.
County Cup: Ise Lodge 9 (Woods 5, Fenton 2, Penney 2) Northampton Phoenix 0.
Ise serenely moved into the semi - finals of the County Cup with a sublime
performance against Northampton Phoenix.
Ise, who have only played cup ties since early December, got through to
their second semi final in successive weeks as they dominated from start to
finish.
James Woods (was the 85th hat-trick in total for Ise Lodge) went nap and
braces from Ben Penney and Rory Fenton completed the scoring.
All credit to Northampton Phoenix who competed until the end.
Farcet United 0 Ise Lodge 5 (Fenton 4, Woods).
ISE moved serenely into their fifth cup final in six seasons as 'they won their semi-final with Peterborough Farcet United 5-0.
Rory Fenton with four and James Woods with one (who became the teams leading
goalscorer in the process), were their goalscorers which means the striking pair have scored 12 between them in the teams last two games (six each).
Ise scored early and then squandered numerous chances before notching the second just before the break. The second half followed the first as chances came and went until Ise, in the last quarter found their range with three more. The pick of the goals was the last which was a lovely interchange between the strikers and a cool finish from Fenton from the edge of the box
Nathan Collyer was Man of the Match with a dominant defensive performance.
County Cup S/F: Ise Lodge 1 (White) Welland Valley 3.
THE boys were knocked out of the county cup on a windy day in Raunds. The Treble's gone but the double is still on!
Missing in-form striker Rory Fenton, Ise struggled to get their passing game together and fel behind to a goal near the stroke of half-time.
They started the second-half in fine fashion and Andy White's swirling free-kick went straight in to bring them level. White and then Ben Johnson almost scored with identical corners in a dominat 20-minute spell.
But in extra-time, against the wind, Ise were undone for Welland's second goal and chasing an equaliser, they conceded again right at the death.
Netherton B 1 Ise Lodge 2 (Woods (p), Johnson).
ISE Lodge U -16's, playing their first league game in over three months
travelled over to Peterborough for their last league away game of the
season on the postage stamp of a pitch that is Netherton's!
With a gale blowing against them and the referee inexplicably awarding a 'cheap' penalty against them in the first few minutes Ise had it all to do at this stage but eventually they started to get on top and when JamesWoods coolly converted a penalty midway through the first half there appeared there would only be one winner. With the strong winds at their backs in the second half Ise were always on top but the home team always looked dangerous on the break. It took a 20-yard right footed screamer from captain Ben Johnson to settle the tie with a goal 15 minutes from time.
League Cup final PSV 0 - 0 Ise Lodge (PSV win 6-5 on penalties).
The boys had the second-half chances to win this final - their fourth league cup final across three leagues - but eventually lost out in a penalty shoot-out.
Ise started the brighter and up to the midway point of the second-half had most of the ball but created few chances. As the half moved on both teams went close with substitute keeper Ross Knox pulling off some great saves.
The game moved into extra time and PSV started to get on top as Ise, carrying knocks and injuries, started to tire.
The lads held on though but lost a close-fought shoot-out.
